Introduction

Global Concerns India (GCI) is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities, especially urban and rural poor and other marginalized groups, across Bengaluru, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur.
Our Vision: Transformative leadership with values enabling equality, justice, and dignity for people and the environment.
Our Mission: Creating spaces and opportunities for holistic education to women, youth, children, and men to be leaders, address injustice, inequality, and exploitation, and to build inclusive equitable, and just communities by engaging in local governance, in harmony with nature.
The Schooling Project

The Schooling Project, GCI's flagship initiative, focuses on enrolling children aged six years and above-including school dropouts, children forced into labour or children at risk of being trafficked-into formal education. The program supports the children to remain in school, by providing partial school fees, uniforms, and books.
GCI actively engages families and communities, fostering a sense of ownership and shared responsibility for ensuring the success of these services, thereby creating sustainable support systems for children in slum communities.
Assisted Learning Program

Global Concerns India (GCI) proudly offers the Assisted Learning Program, an enriching after-school initiative that complements traditional education. Conducted within the environment of government-aided school premises and at a dedicated GCI center in L.R. Nagar slum, this program is designed to elevate the competencies of children and young people.
We focus on fostering creativity, critical thinking, organization, social and communication skills, adaptability, problem-solving, and democratic cooperation, all while promoting respectful and dignified interactions. Join us in making a lasting difference in the lives of our youth.
At ALLP, we passionately strive to create transformative experiences that not only empower children with essential life skills but also significantly enhance their overall quality of life and that of their families.
Many of these children are first-generation learners who require additional academic support, which is addressed through the Assisted and Lifelong Learning Program (ALLP). The ALLP complements formal education by offering holistic interventions, including soft skills development, to help children overcome challenges such as:
- Lack of study space or guidance at home.
- Alcoholism within families, poses challenges to children to study.
- Limited support from working parents.
Through the ALLP, we are dedicated to creating transformative experiences that empower children with essential life skills, enhancing their overall quality of life and benefiting their families as well.
The Impact Of Resilience

The Need:
A survey claims that over 34,000 children in BBMP geographies are not in school. Most of them, who may have enrolled drop out of school. These numbers do not include families living in areas not within the BBMP.
The Difference made by GCI:
In 2024-2025 academic year, saw over 1,300 children successfully enrolled and retained in more than 25 government-aided schools. We proudly secured support for one-third of school fees and uniforms from generous individuals The Schooling Project and esteemed organizations, including the Sansera Foundation, Sigma Trust, and Trelleborg Pvt. Ltd. Notebooks were generously donated by Epson, while The Schooling Project ensured that all students in the Assisted and Lifelong Learning Programme (ALLP) received nutritious meals.
The Impact of Resilience:
Empowerment Of Women

Empowering women in urban slums is essential for driving social and economic transformation within marginalized communities.
Women in urban slums and vulnerable geographies, often face multiple challenges, including poverty, lack of education, limited access to healthcare, and gender-based discrimination. By equipping them with skills, resources, and opportunities, they can voice out and at times, free themselves from cycles of poverty, becoming agents of change.
Vocational training, financial literacy programs, and entrepreneurship support enable women to earn sustainable incomes, gain independence, and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities. Additionally, fostering awareness about their rights and promoting leadership roles empowers women to advocate for themselves and their communities, creating a ripple effect of positive change that uplifts entire neighbourhoods.
Over 500 mothers with comprehensive training in health, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, gender equality, personal growth through yoga, mindfulness, vocational skills, and skill enhancement.
100 women supported with interest-free loan from Mansvini for entrepreneurial pursuits, 10 of them have ventured into cattle rearing and kitchen gardening.
